Colin Bell: WW2 Mosquito Pilot Still Living at Age 104
Last of the Mosquito Pilots
At the Sun N Fun airshow in Lakeland Florida, I met a pilot who had the opportunity to meet an extraordinary man at the RAF Club in England: Colin Bell DFC. Colin was an ex DeHavilland Mosquito pilot who flew over 50 raids on Germany in WW2. His primary job was to drop flares as a pathfinder for the Allied bombing raids. The Allied bombers would then use the flares as a target for precise bombing of German infrastructure at night. Married to the love of his life for 73 years until her death, he continues to be active in raising funds for charities and promoting a strong military for defense. His book, “Bloody Terrified” is for sale about his war time service. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his bravery. His Valor lives on and will never die. Valor is in you. Set it free.
