William E. Fairbairn: The Deadly Super Cop Who Looks Like an Accountant

Survived 600 streetfights, designed modern police forces
After joining the Royal Marines at age 16, Fairbairn began to learn all he could about fighting techniques. Training at Jujitsu, Judo, and KunFu he became the first Westerner to earn a black belt at these fighting techniques. Hired to patrol the very lawless streets of Shanghai in 1907, he was stabbed a dozen times in a knife fight by a Chinese gang, he recovered and started to train the small police force tactics that included: fighting dirty, Defendu (his own style of fighting), and close range pistol fights. He armed the police with Colt 1911s, Colt 1908s and Webley pistols along with a special knife he invented: a double edged dagger that is still used today by special forces. He invented a bullet proof vest for his officers, invented the SWAT team, and came up with a Riot Police force. His body was covered with scars from the over 600 knife fights he got into on the streets. In WW2 he trained special forces from the UK and US marines. He was instrumental in training the OSS in fighting techniques which still exist to this day. He never used harsh language, drank, or bragged about his extreme fighting abilities.
He was and is a role model for police and military world wide as a defender fighting dirty to bring law and order back to the streets. Valor is in you. Set it free.
