Lt. David R. Kingsley: B-17 Bombardier Medal of Honor Recipient

Gave his own parachute to a wounded man as the B-17 went down

When his B-17 over Romania was being shot up by 8 Bf-109s, Kingsley dropped his bomb load on target and then went to the rear of the plane patching up the wounded tailgunner. Finding another crewmate wounded, he stopped the bleeding on that man just in time to learn the B-17 was crashing. Seeing that the wounded tailgunner’s chute was shot up and damaged, he put his own parachute on him and helped him bail out. The tailgunner was the last to see David standing by the bomb bay doors, a solemn but determined look on his face as the B-17 went down. All crew members survived the war except Lt. Kingsley.

John 15:13“Greater love has no one than this, than that he lay down his life for his friends” Valor is in you. Set it free.
