John Robert Baldwin: Hawker Typhoon Ace
15 Aerial kills, multiple Ground targets and ships destroyed
Of all the WW2 airplanes, the Hawker Typhoon has the look of a fighter that works out with anabolic steroids. John Baldwin took this beefed up fighter to a new level by using it to deadly effect on the Germans. Shooting down 15 German aircraft (he himself was shot down once as well) he proved that in capable hands this was a fierce aircraft. He went on to destroy ground targets by the barrel full because like its American doppelganger the P-47, the Typhoon excelled at ground attack. Baldwin didn’t start off the war in the cockpit and was a bomb disposal tech during the Blitz before getting into his Typhoon. After WW2, he was seconded to the USAF in Korea and flew the F-86 Sabre for the US Air Force until 1952 when he went missing on a reconnaissance mission. He was never found nor was any wreckage of his Sabre. He was given multiple awards from four countries for his service including the Distinguished Flying Cross from the United States.
From defusing bombs to fighter pilot: Baldwin never quit. Valor is in you. Set it free.
