Georges Guynemer WWI Ace

‘Until one has given all, one has given nothing”

At the time of his death in 1917, Georges had scored 54 aerial victories in his Spad S.VII bi-plane at the age of 22. Although another French Ace, Rene Fonck, had 75 victories to his name, he was not as popular due to his arrogance and shameless self promotion. Georges was officially missing in action and several accounts of his last engagement involve the Red Baron, the infamous German pilot Manfred von Richthofen with 80 aerial victories to his name. Georges is remembered fondly as a hero of France.

It is Valorous to be humble and still give your life for your country.
