Sergeant Katue: Papua New Guinean Japanese Hunter of WW2

Leader of the Green Shadows
When the Japanese invaded the islands of the South Pacific in 1942, many of the local people were horribly abused, mistreated or killed. On some islands like Papua New Guinea, the Australians had some influence and many of the locals were part of the police forces forming the Papuan Infantry Battalion. Katue was one such guy. Taking it upon himself to rid the massive island of the Japanese, Katue set forth on his own hunting/killing spree with some of his men. For months Katue and his Green Shadows killed and harassed Japanese troops with Katue killing 26 of them by himself. He later came back to the Australian headquarters covered in medals: medals he had taken from top Japanese officers as trophies. Katue claimed that he had killed many more but they were just regular men with no medals to bring back. The local Papua New Guineans played a very important part in the jungle war of the South Pacific islands. Valor in the Green Shadows. Valor is in you. Set it free.
