James H. Howard
James H. Howard was the only Congressional Medal of Honor winner for acts of valor in the P-51 Mustang fighter. His acts of courage began with his fight in China with the American volunteer flying group also known as the flying tigers. After the war began for the United States he transferred to Europe as fighter escort for bombers. During one action he shot down six German planes and proceeded to ram his plane into other fighters attacking the bombers as he had no ammo left. He did this single-handedly as they were no other fighters in the area.
