Chief Warrant Officer Eric A. Slover: MH-47 Pilot Badass

Extraordinary piloting while severely wounded.
During Operation Absolute Resolve to capture Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, Slover, a pilot with the elite Night Stalkers of the 160th SOAR, flew his MH-47 Chinook through dense, mountainous jungle terrain, evading obstacles to land amid heavy firefight. Hit four times by armor-piercing rounds in the legs, he kept control, maneuvered to position his door gunner against the enemy machine guns that struck him, and ensured the assault team’s safe insertion. Bleeding profusely, with blood pooling in the rear, he held the aircraft steady until the troops were secure, then handed controls to his co-pilot (also wounded, but less severely). This unwavering dedication and sacrifice exemplify why Slover was selected for the Night Stalkers—and why he received the Medal of Honor at the State of the Union.
His valor reflects the indomitable American spirit that makes us proud. Valor is in you. Set it free.
